As a medicinal chemist at Orbis Medicines, you will be part of our newly established team in Copenhagen, Denmark, contributing to the discovery and development of innovative therapeutics.
Reporting directly to the VP of Medicinal Chemistry and Portfolio Management, you will have a key role in leading the design and synthesis of macrocycle projects, establish workflows, and drive crossfunctional collaborations. This position offers unparalleled opportunities for professional challenges as you tackle impactful projects in a rapidly evolving pipeline.
YOUR ROLE
- Define the strategy for designing orally available beyond-rule-of-5 macrocycles in close cross-functional collaboration with biology, DMPK and data science colleagues
- Unravel and implement molecular design drivers supporting the medchem optimization of drug properties for oral delivery of this new class of macrocycles
- Act as a medchem lead and/or discovery project lead
- Engage closely with lab-active colleagues across disciplines and our sites
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field
- 10+ years of industry experience in medicinal chemistry across hitto-lead, lead optimization and drug candidate selection phases
- Extensive experience in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, particularly in beyond-rule-of-5 therapeutics
- In-depth knowledge of the drug discovery process, particularly in the context of beyond-rule-of-5 therapeutics
- Strong collaboration, communication and leadership skills in a cross-functional environment
You are a person with strong scientific communication skills, effectively articulating strategies and expectations. You thrive in leading and motivating cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring accountability for project outcomes. With a keen ability to anticipate challenges, you develop contingency plans and adapt quickly to new methodologies and technologies, applying critical and creative thinking to devise innovative solutions.
