MASTER’S INTERNSHIPS

You need more than academic excellence to break into the life sciences industry: hands-on experience is absolutely indispensable. Biopôle has therefore partnered with EPFL’s Innovate4Life to create an internship programme that is designed to equip graduate students with the real-world skills they need, while also fostering innovation within our member companies. By embedding young talent in dynamic start-ups, we firmly believe we’re forming the next generation of industry leaders and strengthening the whole life sciences ecosystem.

COMPANIES: ACCESS FRESH TALENT

Our internship programme connects Biopôle-based start-ups with motivated EPFL Master’s students who are eager to apply their knowledge in a fast-paced environment. These Master’s students become interns in the start-ups for up to six months, bringing fresh perspectives, critical thinking and technical expertise to their projects. For companies, it’s an opportunity to engage with new ideas, gain valuable support and contribute to shaping the next generation of talent within the sector.

Companies can submit internship opportunities on the EPFL website.

STUDENTS: A LAUNCHPAD FOR YOUR CAREER

Moving from university into industry can be daunting – but real-world experience makes all the difference. Our internship programme offers EPFL students the chance to work at cutting-edge start-ups, applying their skills to tangible challenges while building key professional connections. In fact, it’s more than an internship: it’s a gateway to the wider life sciences industry, helping students develop the skills and confidence they need for their future careers.

Hosting an intern allowed us to incorporate an outside perspective into our work, while also re-enthusing the permanent members of the team.

LET’S BUILD THE FUTURE TOGETHER

At Biopôle, we believe in giving young scientists the opportunity to expand their horizons beyond the lab. Our internship model, developed with EPFL, has created a strong bridge between academia and industry – one that could benefit students from other institutions. If you’re interested in establishing a similar programme at your university, we’d love to explore potential collaborations and help create new pathways for scientific talent.
