Associate Professor in “spatial epidemiology” within the Department of epidemiology and health systems (DESS)

As a reference center for internal medicine, general medicine and public health, Unisanté offers an attractive academic environment in these fields. As part of this, a research post in spatial epidemiology has been created, covering aspects relating to the geospatial analysis of the state of health and health determinants of the population of “Canton de Vaud” and Switzerland, which will also enable the impact of public health policies to be assessed.

Main missions :

  • Develop and provide leadership for scientific activities in the field of spatial epidemiology in public health, including health promotion and the epidemiology of chronic diseases, including cancer.

  • Provide university-level teaching in epidemiological research as part of Unisanté's academic curriculum.

  • Provide expertise in the field of spatial epidemiology for public health and community medicine services and institutions.

  • Develop collaboration and outreach at national and international level with spatial epidemiology research groups.


Desired profile :

  • PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science or a qualification deemed equivalent; specialization/expertise in spatial epidemiology.

  • Skills in the management of massive health data and artificial intelligence, including mastery of analysis tools in the field of spatial epidemiology.

  • Leadership in epidemiological and public health research.

  • Advanced managerial skills (management of teams and various projects).

  • Capacity for interdisciplinary collaboration and networking with other research groups, including at international level.

  • Management and communication skills and experience.

  • Willingness to play an active part in the development of Unisanté and the Faculty of Biology and Medicine.

  • Academic knowledge at professorial level with proven experience in pre- and postgraduate teaching.

  • Ability to set up research programs in spatial epidemiology that can be supported by expert external funding.

  • Fluency in English, good knowledge of German and good knowledge of French (LM or minimum B2, C1 ideal) or ability to acquire it rapidly.
